Club Trips, Workshops and Events

Norse Dragon Armoury

Norse Dragon Armoury will be coming to Cannock Chase in September.  We have managed to secure a local trip to photograph vikings in full costume this Autumn after a successful trip to Lilleshall Abbey in April where around 10 members took turns in photographing models in hand crafted viking consumes designed and made by Christopher Peet from Norse Dragon Armoury.

If you are interested in attending this event, please let Gayle Bevan know as soon as possible to reserve your space.

Street Photography Workshop

After a very successful street photography workshop earlier this year, we are looking to join Brian Lloyd Duckett from Streetsnappers for another workshop.

In January this year, 14 members travelled to Liverpool where Brian gave us all the tips and tricks to ensure we get great results when taking street photography.  We all had a great day out and doing this workshop has allowed members with little previous street photography experience to become more confident.

If you are interested in attending this workshop, please contact Gayle Bevan for further details.

Flash Training Course

Over the summer break, several members attended a four week flash course taught by a professional photographer at a local photography studio.  The course was mostly hands on practical work and due to the small groups everyone had chance to become more familiar with the techniques.  The course covered using on camera, off camera and outdoor flash techniques and was designed to  boost confidence in using flash in different lighting situations.

All members attending the course found it very interesting course and have been able to put the new techniques to good use in studio and other situations where extra lighting were needed.

We will be running this course again over the next summer break so if you are interested, please put your name down for the workshop.

Other trips and workshops

Over the course of the season, our trip managers Gayle and Ray arrange a number of activities designed to accommodate the wide verity of interests.  Some of our previous trips include visits to nature reserves, a visit to the National Canoe Centre at Nottingham, Stately homes and gardens, museums as well as local workshops such as night photo walks and studio days.

All of these activities are fully supported by the club and assistance from more experienced club members will be given as required so that everyone is able to learn and practice their skills.
