About the Speaker
Rachael Talibart is an inspiration to anyone who dreams of following their passion. Having originally trained as a solicitor and worked in the City for 20 years, she realised that her heart lay elsewhere. Having been brought up on the south coast, during sailing with her family as a child she would spend time on deck seeing images in waves. At mid-life, she swapped career to become an award-winning photographer dedicated to making images of waves that look like she is in the midst of the ocean with no land in sight. Yet all her images are shot from the beach.
With a lifelong fascination with the ocean, Rachael’s mostly black & white photographs have been published in books and both print and online magazines, have been exhibited widely in the UK, Europe and USA.
About Tides & Tempests
You will have an exclusive chance to find out about how she captures the immense power and beauty of wind-swept waves, mostly in black-and-white, when Rachael comes to Stafford in April. She will talk about her methods and her inspiration and treat us to a night of her magnificent images.
She will be presenting images from her series ‘Sirens’. Rachael captured these stunning shots on 8 Feb 2016 when storm Imogen hit the south coast. 150 km per hour winds produced 15 metre waves which Rachael caught on camera in a 6-hour ordeal of love. She named them all from Greek mythology.
